BEST BIOTIN SHAMPOO - PRODUCT REVIEW

It isn't uncommon for people to experience hair loss, in fact more people suffer than you think and the reasons can often vary.

Like male pattern baldness for example and stereotypically it is men that tend to lose hair more.

The hair growth cycle - Our hair is programmed to grow in a particular way. First it grows, then it will rest and after a while it will begin the shredding cycle in order for new growth to come through.

Reasons for hair loss - examples -

  • Stress - Whether it is a physical trauma or illness, stress can interrupt the growth cycle and force it into a shedding cycle. This type of loss is called Telogen Effluvium.

  • Pregnancy - A lot of women experience it after child birth and sometimes during because of the hormones.

  • A vitamin deficiency or overdose - Taking the right dose of vitamins is important as they can have adverse effects on your health too.

  • Male Pattern Baldness - Very common for men that experience hair loss by the time they are 60, normally caused by a combo of genes and sex hormones. Many men embrace it and shave their hair off whereas a big proportion seek a cure or relief.

What can help?

There are many products on the market designed to help relieve the symptoms of hair loss and encourage regrowth.

One of these products is a Biotin Shampoo, you can get many different types of these but specifically I'll be looking at this one from Amazon.

Before we look at the product, let's take a quick look at what Biotin is and how it helps -

Biotin is vitamin B7 but a soluble vitamin, which is part of the Vitamin B complex. It is used to promote a healthy digestive system, encourage metabolism functions and cardiovascular functions. It also plays a big part in maintaining healthy hair, skin and nails. You can find it naturally in foods such as mushrooms, organ meats, fish and avocado.

One well known effect it can have is improving hair and nail health.

Lets have a look at the shampoo -

The product boasts properties of Biotin and is angled at hair growth and thickening. For a modest $10.95 plus shipping it is surely worth a try, right?

The ingredients - As well as Aqua and a very long list of sodium based ingredients e.g.  Sodium Lauroamphoacetate , Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate and many more.

Listed way down the line is

  • Biotin

  • Coconut Oil

  • Olive Oil

  • Argan Oil

  • Jojoba Oil

  • Tea Tree Oil

So as well as the chemical derivatives to help soften and moisturise the hair and scalp, it contains beneficial oils known for their skin nourishing properties.

Many of these ingredients are found in beauty cosmetics and are added to moisturises. Coconut Oil and milk are among the very popular ingredients currently front lined in many health magazines.

What does the product claim to do?

With the 11 rich botanical nutrients it aims to clean the hair, rejuvenating the scalp also and states that it helps prevent  hair loss, treating it naturally and safely. It is suitable for all hair types and will apparently build body, giving the hair 'bounce'.

Customer reviews

The shampoo has very mixed reviews. Some customers rate it five stars claiming it is the only thing that works for them, favouring it over other competitors and describing how it has helped their hair grow thicker and even grow new hair. Some say it has helped treat the symptoms of their problem by preventing the actual hair loss.

However, some are less than impressed. Some customers are claiming it doesn't work at all, some say it makes their scalp really dry and some have even gone as far as calling it 'fake'.

A few customers have called out on the quality of the product noticing it's not very consistent and the packing often seems to have negative comments, for being badly packaged.

Neutral reviews say they have been using the shampoo for a few weeks and haven't noticed anything other than their hair becoming stiffer or gaining a bit of lift.

Things to consider

Firstly, it won't work for everyone. It won't, purely because not everyone will have the same problem with regards to why they are losing their hair. Step back to a few reasons of why people suffer hair loss.

If you have a Biotin deficiency for example, you would be better off taking the supplements and ingest it rather than spreading it on your scalp, although it may help your skin as it absorbs the nutrients in the oils but ingesting it will give the actual benefit.

So if 100 customers have different reasons for their hair loss, you can guarantee a proportion of them will say it didn't work for them. However it may also depend on how long they are using the product for. There are many variables to consider which may affect it's results.

Can you wholeheartedly say that you believe a $10.95 shampoo will be your answer?

The main question is, do you think it will work for you?

Again it depends on why you are having the problems so maybe a little research wouldn't hurt first but as I said before, if you are at your wits end then for $10.95 it's worth a try.
